SKILLS TRAINING UPDATE

The students in our job skills training project have made tremendous progress and the items they are making are ready for sale. We have been to several community fairs where people can purchase the item from the person who has made it, enabling the student to be involved in the whole process from creating to selling. This is important for the future because as the students become economically stable they will be able to set up their own business. The cost of materials is calculated and returned to the foundation and 100% of the profits belongs to the creator. We then assist them to save this money in their own bank account. For some this is the first time they have ever owned a bank account and they are amazed as their account begins to grow!!

Last month one of our students got a request to build a small garden fence!

We are also teaching some students how to take cuttings and grow them into mature plants..At the moment we are focussing on edible herbs and spices as well as the special yellow flowers used in many religious activities. These plants can the be taken to market and sold. Again the profit are kept by the student.

Thank you for partnering with us in this project. We are excited about what we can be doing together in 2020!
