First of all, thanks so much to everyone who gave on June 13th and had their donations matched by 50%! It’s thanks to donors like you that the kids continue to thrive.
Summer has started off with a celebration of children’s day in Haiti where the kids showcased their recycled art. We asked the directors of the orphanage why they chose to focus on recycled art.
We decided to use recycled items because we believe that you can turn something ugly into something beautiful [and because] pollution is such a big problem in Haiti. Getting the kids to use the items we find in the street gives them a direct contact with their environment [and teaches them] how to change an item that is lost and ugly into something beautiful.
We love the sentiment, and are so glad that the orphanage directors are teaching the children in their care such valuable lessons.
The kids enjoyed their day, and we’re so proud of all they achieved. Their enjoyment is a direct result of your generosity not just on June 13th, but over the past year. Your donations are changing these children’s lives, and we can hardly express how much the staff at EDV and the kids at the orphanage appreciate your donations.
Thanks so much for all you give.
