At a time when rights are being eroded and democracy threatened, this project funds grassroots movements across the U.S. that are ensuring the next generation has more, not fewer, rights than we do. By raising $15,000, our average grant size, we will provide targeted, innovative funding when there is currently underinvestment in organizations led by and for women and girls of color and gender expansive individuals.
Total philanthropic giving to women and girls of color is less than one-half of one percent of all foundation giving in the U.S. However, organizations led by women and nonbinary leaders of color stand at the forefront of the most urgent struggles of our times, resolute in their commitment to constructing a just society where all can thrive. Supporting, investing in, and demonstrating genuine care for these leaders is not a mere choice; it is an imperative.
Increased funding for grassroots movement building and leadership development for women and girls, particularly women and girls of color, is needed more than ever in the United States. Your support will allow our grantee partners to innovate, diversify and build collective power that integrates inclusive perspectives, people and approaches toward greater equity.
