The Nasio Trust's Kitchen Garden Appeal was successfully able to establish over 100 kitchen gardens across homesteads in Mumias West Sub-County. The gardens have been planted with kales, beans, and black nights shade - which are local to the region. Produce from the gardens is being used by households not only for consumption but also to earn an income through their sale.
The Nasio Trust's community outreach and livelihoods team has continued planting kitchen gardens for those suffering from food insecurity. Over 10 new kitchen gardens have been sown in the last two months for families that are suffering from malnutrition. The youth trained by the charity in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare have also been trained in setting up their own kitchen gardens to engage them in occupations that keep them safe and away from risk behaviours. 7 kitchen gardens have been established in the schools that the Nasio Trust partners with, led by teacher-patrons and young people taking the lead in the gardens' maintenance.
We would like to thank everyone who has donated to support our Kitchen Garden project that has improved food security for over 100 families.
