Project Report | Nov 30, 2018
With peace! - People are happy!

By William Logai Ochieng | Executive Director

We still need your help to keep going further!
We still need your help to keep going further!

Thanks helping in South Sudan! Thanks assisting Omilling villagers!

The two armies the government and rebel had been in combat for 5-years. Because of the civil war the aid workers who were serving from the ground in South Sudan by then had to leave. As HopeOfiriha cannot guarantee the safety of the project coordinators in rural areas where it operates we decided not to enlist more volunteers. This lack of management capacity had a disastrous effect on our capacity to gather the information from the project sites so that a field update report is posted to you on time.

On the other hand, there’s good news to share with you direct from Juba. Last August the warring parties have signed a peace deal formally ending a five-year that has destroyed the economy and killed tens of thousands of civilians. We have not used your donations and gifts we collected from other sources because our operations had been halted by then due to instability. We’re re-starting our not-for-profit activities because the political and social environment is getting better day by day. Your dollar will be used for this cause.

At the time of this report:
This activity takes place in Omilling a rural area – South Sudan. However, the past civil war had denied us from implementing this project, and no materials had been delivered since local people fled from the villages to Uganda. Because of a changed political environment the returnees are trekking back home from exile.

There is lack of management capacity. This internal structural weakness had been there for a several month because our previous program coordinator we had left and we’re looking a substitute to operate our activities in East Africa. We’re searching for a top talent.

We are visiting the project site after this report to see the status of this activity first-hand. Then we will be posting you an ad hoc field report to inform you what took place during the time which we were unable to post project update report and what we need be done to move this need forward.
