Yesterday we gave out 100 orange and tangerine grafted tree seeldling to Lubanga Twero Women's Group at our Library in Danita, Masese 2, Jinja.
We are currently participating in the Global Giving storytelling initiative, which is basically information gathering. We were holding a 'bead buy' with the ladies, and part of yesterday's meeting was to have each woman fill out at least one story. For every story they gave us they recieved one tree. Some ladies wrote as many as 10 stories to get 10 trees!
As the area is urban slum, some of the women do not have a plae to plant the trees, those women decided to put their trees together and gift them to their church so their fruits can be shared by everyone.
The rest of the trees were given out to other community members who were willing to come give us stories. We had two of our scribes writing like crazy, and some of our women stepped in to help others write as well.
It was a great day and everyone left happy.
