A New Space Designed for Learning and Growth

One of the most exciting developments is the transformation of our classroom space. Our new academy classroom provides a brighter, more professional, and more welcoming learning environment for participants as they begin their journey toward careers in the skilled trades.

Compared to our previous training area, the new space offers:

• A dedicated classroom with new instructional resources and an environment free from the interruptions of a shared workspace
• An upgraded workshop with improved electrical capacity, compressed air, and dust collection systems to better support hands-on training
• More room for students to work on projects, develop their skills, and collaborate
• A professional, welcoming environment that supports both classroom instruction and practical training
• Dedicated space to host employers, community partners, and career development activities

Having a space of our own allows us to provide a more structured learning experience while continuing to build upon our existing programs. These improvements support our HBI PACT Core training and growing historic preservation training opportunities, giving students a better environment to develop their skills and gain practical experience.

More than just a change in location, the new facility represents an investment in the quality of our training and our ability to serve students as the Academy continues to grow. The impact of a quality learning environment cannot be overstated. We have already seen how an updated space helps participants stay engaged, build confidence, and take pride in their educational experience.

A New Name and Fresh Branding

As our organization has grown, it became clear that our Academy branding should align more closely with the identity of Fresh Start Worx. We are proud to announce that the Academy has been refreshed as the Garmany Worx Academy.

This updated branding reflects both our continued commitment to honoring Richard P. Garmany's support and vision, while creating stronger alignment with the Fresh Start Worx name and logo that our community has come to recognize and trust. The new look represents growth, opportunity, and the bright future we are building together.

Honoring Richard P. Garmany's Legacy

Another meaningful addition to the Academy is the recent gift of a photograph of Richard P. Garmany, which will be prominently displayed in the classroom.

Each day, participants, staff, and instructors will be reminded of the generosity, leadership, and belief in human potential that made this Academy possible. With his photograph overlooking the classroom, Richard's legacy will continue to inspire individuals pursuing new skills, new careers, and new beginnings.

“We’ve come a long way since we started, and I’m excited to see how much further we can go. We are continuously looking for ways to expand and improve our Academy. We've developed partnerships with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together Hartford to provide additional opportunities for our students. We are also introducing workshops focused on financial planning, healthy relationships, and career readiness, working alongside partners like the American Job Center to provide job search assistance and employment support. Our new home is a big part of what comes next, giving us the ability to expand our training opportunities and community outreach. At the Garmany Worx Academy, our goal is more than credentials. We want students to leave with practical skills, real-world experience, and the confidence to put what they've learned to work.”
