Freedom on Wheels: Restoring Mobility, Independenc

By Nabi Bux | President

Sindh Disabled Welfare Association (SAdWA), a not-for-profit organization, continued its efforts to promote independence and mobility for people with disabilities through the Freedom on Wheels – Donate Mobility Aids project. During distributions held on 23 November 2025, April 2026, and 23 August 2026 at Al Murtaza Hall, Thari Mirwah, SAdWA provided mobility aids to 328 people from Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Sukkur, and Nawab Shah. The support included 160 wheelchairs, 98 mobility tricycles, and 70 mobility sticks for blind beneficiaries, helping recipients move with greater independence and participate more actively in their daily lives.

One inspiring beneficiary is Mrs. Amina Khatoon, who received a mobility tricycle. Before receiving the tricycle, Amina was largely confined to her bed and had very limited mobility. With her new tricycle, she can now move around independently, manage household activities, look after her children, and continue running her small home-based shop. Her experience shows how a mobility aid can provide much more than transportation—it can restore independence, dignity, and the ability to contribute to family life.

Through this project, SAdWA is helping people with disabilities overcome physical barriers and participate more fully in their families and communities. The mobility aids provided have enabled beneficiaries to move more freely and carry out activities that were previously difficult or impossible. SAdWA remains committed to reaching people with disabilities who lack access to essential mobility support and to creating opportunities for greater independence and inclusion.
