After four years in construction hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, the Foundation Preparatory Academy Science Wing project has finally made its way to the completion of the Ground Floor driveway.  Such is very important for the safety of the school children in coming and going out of the campus premises traffic and is also mandated by the Department of Education.

Foundation Preparatory Academy, as the basic education arm of the university is also included in the gear in promoting an eco-friendly and sustainable environment, thus, using brick pavers for the ground floor driveway instead of concrete.  The brick pavers being utilized are also produced in-house by the university's own clay and pottery department.

There are a number of reasons why the university has always practiced using pavers in its driveways and pathways on campus.  Some of which are:

1). The interlocking pieces that form the driveway are permeable and since the Philippines, where Foundation University is located, is a tropical country with a wet season, rainwater easily permeates the pavers and redistributed back to the ground instead of filling up the drainage systems that causes flood.

2). Since the academy has always been a school for the financially challenged, it finds ways to make use of low cost and low maintenance materials in building its facilities to save funds for the education of student work scholars.

3). Brick pavers are strong and durable and resistant to cracking and breaking.  It can withstand pressure and heavy loads with ease.

4). It is safe for children because its surface is non-slip and the texture prevents skidding and slipping that could cause major accidents.

5). While thinking of costs, brick pavers are easy to form casual designs because of the single patterns and interlocking features for aesthetics.

6). The brick pavers are made of organic clay material making it very environment friendly and indigenous.
