It is known globally that the Corona Virus (COVID 19) has greatly affected most if not all organizations and communities worldwide. The Philippines, most especially small town Dumaguete, where Foundation Preparatory Academy is being constructed, has not been spared from this outbreak, moreso, that the first ever case in the Philippines came from this city early in January 2020.
National and local government units have declared the Philippines in a state of emergency and has imposed the suspension of non-essential businesses from the last week of March 2020, one of which were construction projects. While Foundation University's thrust was to be able to make use of the Science Wing for the next academic year supposedly opening in June, it had to take a back seat and supported government executive orders. Construction was temporarily suspended as of April 2020 to give more importance to health and safety precautions of the construction workers and the university employees and ensure a safe working environment at the time when the Enhance Community Quarantine is lifted. This was decided upon by the university administration to help in preventing the spread of the Corona Virus.
In the first three months of the year, the project construction managed to achieve the slabs of the third storey. To date, the area is now ready for concreting. Photos are attached to support this report. Meanwhile, the university is preparing safety protocols for the construction workers once the government will allow the continuance of this project.
