Report on Foster Care for Orphan Children

SUMMARY:


Nothing can take away the pain of the children who have lost one or both parents due to illness, accident, and conflict or of children whose parents due to circumstances are not able to care for them. Through support of Global giving and others donors we have been able to reach to 100 nos children. Small support has been able to change the lives of such children and access to basic services has been ensured.


INTERVENTION :


Access to Basic Services:


Education Material support to children: A major focus of the project is to ensure that all children continue their study. In the beginning of the session Children have been supported by reading and writing materials. Regular follow up is going on so that children do not get dropped out from schools.
Need based support: Shoes, bags, dress material, food packets have been given to children as per their need.
Bicycle support helps to girl child for regular and independent school going: One of the major factors of being dropout of girls and boys children is distance .Specially girls child can not access their primary & secondary education at a Distance of 3-4 km and becomes dropout at early ages. 12 bicycle has been provided to children so that they continue study .

Holiday Camp for Children:
3days holiday camp has been organized where 90 nos. of children got a plat form to share their experience and gain knowledge on child rights, life skill, creativity, child protection and Co curricular activities. Exposure visit has been organized for children to gain knowledge on Post Office, Panchayat Office and visit Temple and Park for mind fresh and entertainment. Children learnt creative work on Clay, paper and thermo cool. They enjoyed with dance, song and storytelling. Knowledge and effective participation has been improved among the children.

Organize Health Camp:
A health camp for children were organized in the month of May .During the camp different disease like Sickle cell, ENT, TB, worm infection, cold fever etc were identified & diseases infected children were supported by medicine during the camp for their health improvement.

Capacity Building:

Adolescent training to Boys & Girls:

During the period adolescent training on family life education to Boys & Girls was organized .The main objective of the programme was to sensitize and aware to the adolescent boys & girls on the problems & difficulties faced by the teens and the adolescents age groups of 10 to 19 years. In this training programme the children gain knowledge on various developmental transformation including physical, emotional and social changes. And also the issues affected the stages of growth the changes come many responsibility & privileges to the adolescent age.


Training to children on Life skill:


Life skill training has been organized to orient children on different core life skills. 78 nos. of children has been oriented and gain knowledge on life skill through FGD (Personal Health Hygiene, Creative thinking, good Behavior, Self awareness)

A Story of Real


A girl child of 9 years old girl lost her parents 4 years ago. She is living with her elder brother, older paternal grandfather and grandmother at Luhasingha of Khaprakhol block.
They are landless living in a broken small hut, very poor and in eligible to get government facilities. As the Care givers were too old, she was dropout from school when she was in class II and engaged in household work. Before the support she was very, shy & depressed.
In the mean time YCDA identified her & enrolled her in school .Now she is reading in class III. She is supported by Educational, Health & food packets.
