About Foster Care:

YCDA has initiated the Alternatives Form of Child Care programme focusing on care and protection of the children through community based rehabilitation and family focused alternative care arrangements to ensure the best interest of the children. YCDA plays a pioneer role in promoting non-institutional care in the State like Odisha through community centric childcare i.e. Foster Care/Group Foster Care   & Kinship Care.

YCDA started the Foster care & Group foster care initiative for the first time in the state of Odisha after due lunching of ICPS. YCDA considers that Foster care is the best option for the family and community to give care and protection who need of care and protection and the care arrangement is the most beneficial and desirable environment for the healthy growth and development of a children. Placing a child in foster care gives the child a safe place to grow, either until the family circumstances improve enough to reunite the child with the parents or till a permanent rehabilitation is done for the child. Children are usually sent to foster care when they are deprived of family care due to various reasons.

During the period, our foster parents continue to provide support, love, caring and stability to the children. All 100 children in Foster care arrangements are safe at home and continuing their education.

YCDA Support System During the Period:

Time to time along with YCDA, Child welfare committee & District child Protection unit are also going for monitoring, interact with the neighbors to assess the progress & safety of the children. Now children have improved their education standard and enjoying their life in a family.

Training to Caregivers on Good Parenting Skill:

This COVID-19 pandemic has placed families & children under immense and unique pressure, putting their physical, mental and social well-being at risk. Looking this training has been conducted for the 100 caregivers/parents to enhancing their capacities to deal with child‘s behavior, emotions & depressions etc & could actively take care of the children. All the care givers gain knowledge and skill on their responsibilities towards parental care, deal with child’s behavior and relationship building. They are now using the learnt skills in their day-to-day life & nurturing the child safely.

Celebrating India Festival Joy of Giving:

We all experienced the spirit of giving happiness  & Joy through Sharing & Caring in some points of our lives and in this period with a small initiative through community contribution , we tried to bring hope in children & needy to get away of this COVID & bring new normal in their lives . Taking an objective to help the needy & spread the message of an act of giving & getting happiness the festival of giving has been celebrated at both Boudh & Balangir districts of Western Odisha, India.                                                                                    The community learnt the act of giving for kindness & support for the cause.
