Summary

This project will contribute to help 5 families with fortified roofs. These families and their homes have been devastated, with your contribution, it will give them peace of mind that their roof can withstand the next storm. Inspiritus is installing FORTIFIED roofing systems on homes damaged by hurricanes and severe storms. This gives families, seniors, and disaster survivors a roof that's scientifically proven to better withstand hurricanes, high winds, and hail.

Challenge

Communities across Inspiritus's service area have been repeatedly hit by hurricanes (Ian, Helene) and severe weather. Since launching its response in August 2024, our volunteers have contributed nearly 3,000 hours of service and completed over 327 home cleanups, yet families, particularly low-income homeowners without insurance or access to other recovery resources, are still living under leaking, storm-damaged roofs. A standard roof replacement often just resets the clock until the next storm.

Solution

As part of our "Strong Homes" resilient construction initiative. Fortified Roofing gives families a roof that's scientifically proven to better withstand hurricanes, high winds, and hail, while often qualifying homeowners for insurance discounts down the line. This project solves the problem by replacing a reactive cycle: repair, damage, repair again, with a durable, one-time fix: instead of rebuilding a family's roof back to the same vulnerable standard that failed last time.

Long-Term Impact

A FORTIFIED roof isn't just disaster response, it's building disaster resilience for the next storm, reducing the cycle of repeated damage, displacement, and repair costs that traps low-income families. Long-term, this frees up disaster-relief resources for other families in need, while homeowners may gain insurance discounts and financial stability, creating a scalable model for storm-ready housing across the Southeast.
