Hi everyone,
I wanted to start a theme for some of my blog posts: From Surviving to Thriving
And here is our first story.
December 2012, Dixie received a call for help from another orphanage about this little boy, so small, so sick. At 14 months old and weighing less than 10lb, he was literally wasting away but we had no idea why! Test after test, fever after fever, antibiotic after antibiotic... nothing seemed to help. His weight stayed down and his fevers kept coming. He spent his first eight months with 2 on 1 care, staying with Ms. Vicky and after a little over three months of being here, March 2013, we had a confirmed diagnosis of Tuberculosis. We started him on treatment right away and slowly but surely his weight started going up, his fevers decreased and the smiles didn't stop. His six months of oral TB treatment ended last month. There were a lot of ups and downs for him over the past 10 m0nths, but we're all praying for a positive and healthy future for this amazing little fighter! His smile lights up the nursery and brightens everyone's day here at GLA! He has gone from just surviving to THRIVING!
