Formula and Baby WASH for the babies in Ethiopia

Every Contribution Helps Protect a Child

During this reporting period, Meseret Humanitarian Organization (MHO) gratefully received a donation of US$0.58 through our Formula and Baby WASH for the Babies in Ethiopia project. Although this contribution was small, it represents the kindness and compassion of a donor who believes that every child deserves a healthy start in life. Combined with MHO's own resources and local community support, this donation and gift helped us continue providing essential services to vulnerable babies and young children without interruption.

MHO is one of the few organizations in Ethiopia providing specialized day care and rehabilitation services for children from the poorest families. Every day, we support homeless and highly vulnerable mothers and children in Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar who have been affected by extreme poverty, gender-based violence, family separation, parental loss, neglect, and other social challenges. Currently, MHO provides care and rehabilitation for approximately 130 vulnerable mothers and 250 children, including 90 babies and young children (0–5 years) who receive infant formula, nutritious meals, safe shelter, and Baby WASH services.

The rising cost of infant formula, nutritious food, hygiene supplies, and other essential items continues to place enormous pressure on our program. Many of the mothers we serve are unable to breastfeed because of illness, malnutrition, trauma, or other difficult circumstances, making infant formula a lifesaving necessity. Despite these challenges, MHO remains committed to ensuring that every child receives the nutrition, hygiene support, and loving care needed for healthy growth and development.

One mother recently shared how receiving infant formula and a clean, safe environment gave her baby the strength to recover from severe undernutrition after arriving at our rehabilitation center. While we protect the privacy of the families we serve, stories like hers remind us that every contribution—no matter its size—creates hope and helps change a child's future.
