Our reforesting project ‘For the Monkeys’ has been created so that the monkeys of Upala can move freely between two patches of forest. Though the project is small in size, the territory of the animals in the region will expand greatly. This creates stronger family groups – not only for our monkeys, but for other mammals, amphibians and reptiles.
So far, we have received some generous donations, but there is a long way to go before we can begin work on the project. We have learned from experience, that beginning work early leads to the risk of young saplings being overtaken by grasses. Therefore, we will continue to promote and search for funding in the coming months in an ever-expanding pool of potential donors and grant-giving institutions.
We at La Reserva are anxious to begin work on this vital project, which when finished will generate an area of great biodiversity which we can ALL be proud of. We are grateful for your interest and support and can’t wait to get planting!
