Dear friends and partners
We have put in much effort in the last few months to restore hope in the girl child. The country went through dry season for six months and now floods and landslides with increased crop failure. We have seen many strikes in schools and parents have no money to send children back to school and provide food and other items. When economic situations get extreme it is the girl child that always suffers because much attention is given to boys. We have been able to bring 10 girls to stay in hostels because they were traveling more than 15 kilometers to school. they are sitting National exams in early November and this is the examination that determines their fate to go to Secondary schools and High schools. We provided 550 sanitary pads to girls in the elementary level. Many of these girls spent two years at home because of COVID 19 and attained the age of menstruation while still at home. They could not get enough guidance from parents and many of them were hiding their experiences from he parents. Our team was able to educate them and also found out that they were not going to school while they were experiencing menstruation. They are now able to attend classes regularly with the help of reusable Sanitary pads. We supported 5 girls with better Uniform materials and shoes at high school. They were able to attend a seminar for girls organized by the local Rotary club. These seminars empower girls and give them hope for a better future. We appeal to our partners to give us more support so that we can support more girls to attend school in a more comfortable environment thank all our friends and partners who support this project.
