We have increased support for the girl child after we registered more than 100 school going girls who got pregnant during the covid 19 lock down. We have put in a lot of effort to identify young girls mainly less than ten years who stay at home to look after the young siblings and the parents do not pay attention to take them back to school. We have held meetings with a number of parents and care givers to allow these young girls to get back to school. We give books and other scholastic materials and eventually contribution for Parents Teachers associations welfare. Many of the children have forgoten how to read and write. we send them to the local church school to pick up some basic skills before integrating them into the formal schools. Our team goes to the villages to identify these children get them enrolled give them basic scholastic materials and they get started. Since the begining of the year we have identified 63 young girls below the age of 10 years. These girls have all not gone to school from 2019 when schools were closed. We hope to integrate all these young girls to the formal learning systems by 2023. Our target is to indentify more than 200 girls. We are seeking for more support from our partners to get these girls back to school and keep some of them in young girl's hostels because they can not walk to schools and some conditions at their homes are not conducive for them to study.
