Orientation and Training of Sustainable Agriculture was held on February 19- March 2, 2014 in the 15 Barangays of Tolosa, Leyte as a first step towards rebuilding communities' food security and livelihood through crop production.
The orientation - training on Sustainable Agriculture was conducted in 4 clusters composed of 4 Barangays per cluster (Cluster 1 - Barangay Opong, Tanghas, Telegrafo and San Roque; Cluster 2 - Barangay Imelda, Olot, Poblacion and Doña Brigida; Cluster 3 - Barangay Capangihan, Canmogsay and Malbog; and Cluster 4 - Barangay Quilao, Burak, Cantariwis and San Vicente).
Participants were composed of the local government officials (barangay captains, local agriculture workers, nutrition and sanitation workers and barangay health workers) and farmers. A total of 193 participants were trained from the 15 Barangays of Tolosa.
The participant’s learned about Sustainable Agriculture principles and techniques on Korean Natural Farming (KNF) formulations and Bio- Intensive Gardening and Food Always in the Home (FAITH) which they now implement in their barangay community farms and individual backyards.
This is the 1st step towards rebuilding, more way to go, more steps needed...
There is another batch of Sustainable Agriculture training for other clusters in Leyte, Samar and Cebu.
A brief video documentation was prepared out of this endeavor.
