Thank you to all who have supported this initiative to improve food preservation and increase the potential income of our farmers at the Gbarnga Lutheran Training Center (GLTC) in rural Liberia, West Africa. Given the recent conflicts in the Middle East, the cost of fertilizer and other farm inputs have increased substantially. The need to maximize profits from our agriculture harvests is even more imperative – and crop preservation will play a critical role.
After further evaluation of possible sites on our campus, it has been determined that a former poultry house will work well for conversion into this cold storage building. This will help reduce overall construction costs while accelerating the time to completion. June is early rainy season in Liberia and construction work is limited during this time. Work is scheduled to begin at the end of the rainy season in late September. Thus, this is our final push to raise the remaining funds for this project.
Thank you and continue praying that we will find all the resources and financial support needed to begin construction of this important food preservation facility to help break the cycle of food insecurity and poverty in this rural area.
