Thirty-Seven (37) children from ages 3 months to 12 years old were given well-balanced and nutritious food. Nine (9) babies were given formulated milk for lactose intolerance. Babies and young kids from ages eight (8) months to five (5) years old are at the weaning stage and are are slowly introduced to solid food starting with porridge and thinly sliced fruits. All of the kids are given Vitamin C to enhance their immune system. Some of the kids who have body mass indeces that are slow in development were given multi-vitamins and appetite enhancers.
This quarter, only three (3) babies experienced mild colds and diarrhea. They were quickly given treatment and medicine to prevent dehydration.
All thirty-seven (37) children‘s oxygen levels and termperature are monitored twice a day.
Among the fourteen (14) older boys from ages 4 yrs. old to 12 years old, only four (4) of them experienced viral infections with mild fever and cold symptoms. All of them were treated medically and all of them recovered. Specially formulated milk is given to two (2) children with heart health concerns.
There were four (4) children who were assessed by a developmental pediatrician, and three (3) were found to have developmental delays in speech and one was diagnosed to have mild autism. Tahanan ng Pagmamahal undertakes these assessments for identifying and seeking early intervention for children from sixteen (16) months to thirty-six (36) months. Children with developmental challenges and mild autism require numerous and frequent occupational and speech therapy. And while there are therapists near the shelter, they have been getting fully booked as of late since the start of the relaxed measures against the COVID 19 pandemic. Tahanan ng Pagmamahal is actively seeking other competent therapists within the city.
Thank you for your continued support and love for our children. We are grateful that you are our partners in providing these kids with their basic needs; their medical needs; and their developmental requirements. May your kindness to us find its full circle and come back to you a thousandfold.
