This report covers the medical and nutritional updates from July 20, 2021 to November 13, 2021.
Thirty-One (31) children were provided with medical assistance in the form of: medical check ups; provision of medicines, multi-vitamins, extra doses of vitamin-C; and laboratory tests. Their vital signs, temperature, and oxygen levels were frequently monitored to make sure that none are infected with COVID.
This past quarter, our nurse, social workers and house parents had their hands full in dealing with colds, fever, rashes, Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease, Boils, Nose bleeds, functional constipation, Poor vision, lazy eye, Bronchial Asthma, URTI (Upper Respiratory Tract Infection), Cough, Sneezing.
One child underwent Developmental Pediatrician Assessment and was diagnosed with delayed language development. He has since then started receiving speech therapy. Before his therapy, he is unable to pronounce the letters: S, R, and K. He was uncommunicative and would simply stare at the person trying to converse with him. After one month's session, he is now able to pronounce the letter K; express permission if he needs to go to the comfort room to answer Nature’s calls; and is now socially communicating with everyone.
All children whose therapies were temporarily suspended during the Enhanced Community Quarantine have also restarted following the pandemic’s more relaxed guidelines with face-to-face interactions with children. However, the children remain unvaccinated as of this writing.
Forty-one (41) children have been provided with three (3) full meals and two (2) snacks daily for the past quarter. Most of the children have improved their anthropometric measurements such as head circumference, height weight and body mass index.
