Severe flooding in Southern Nigeria displaced thousands of families, swept away homes, submerged farmlands, and disrupted local markets, leaving already vulnerable communities without shelter, food, or income, and our team quickly mobilized alongside community leaders to assess urgent needs and coordinate a targeted humanitarian response across the most affected settlements.
Through donor support, we delivered emergency food supplies, clean drinking water, temporary shelter materials, hygiene kits, and essential household items to overburdened families, prioritizing pregnant women, children, elderly persons, and persons living with disabilities who were struggling to survive in overcrowded and unsafe temporary camps.
Beyond emergency relief, we restored dignity and hope by launching livelihood recovery activities, providing farming inputs, small business starter kits, and skills training that enabled affected households to restart income-generating activities, rebuild resilience, and reduce dependency on aid despite the difficult environmental and economic conditions.
One inspiring story is that of a widowed mother of four who lost her food stall and home to the flood but, after receiving livelihood support and business training through the project, successfully restarted her trading business, regained financial independence, and now supports other displaced women within her community.
This project demonstrates the powerful impact of donor generosity by transforming crisis into recovery, strengthening community resilience, and reinforcing our commitment to transparent, effective humanitarian interventions that save lives, restore livelihoods, and build sustainable pathways for vulnerable populations to recover and thrive after disasters.
