Four containers carrying 96 hospital beds, 12 birthing beds, 72 exam tables along with walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs and hundreds of boxes of medical supplies will be on the water beginning January 17, 2018. These containers are part of a long-rebuild of the destroyed healthcare infrastructure throughout Peru as a result of the devastating floods of 2017.
VIDA thanks GlobalGiving donors for your support! VIDA has made a total of 12 shipments (ocean and air) carrying nearly $12 million in aid in response to the tragic flooding. 800,000 homeless, 300 plus hospitals/clinics destroyed and the infrastructure is devastated - roads and bridges washed out and entire communities swept clean.
VIDA is working with our partners and the government to help rebuild the healthcare infrastructure. The government is dedicating transportation resources to transport the aid to the impacted communities and we are ramping up our efforts. These upcoming shipments will bring our total shipments to 16 valued at nearly $14 million.
VIDA looks forward to continuing this project with the help of the GlobalGiving community.
