K. Arumugam : Arumugam is a resident of Nergunapattu village of Latur block. He lives in a small thatched roof house with his family. The floods caused severe damage to the house. Post-floods, the family suffered without a place to live. Arumugam was supported with an amount of Rs.50000 to help reconstruct the house.
R. Rani: Rani and Rajendran of Keezhagandai village live a hand-to-mouth existence due to their poor socio-economic status. Theirs is a small hut with thatched roof. During the recent deluge, their house was flooded, and the walls and roof collapsed. The family suffered immensely without shelter. Considering their family situation, the family was supported with an amount of Rs.50000 to help rebuild their house and return to normalcy.
Srimathi/ Murugan: Srimathi and her husband, Murugan, reside at K.Nelvai village of Kanchipuram district. Murugan is a daily wage labourer. Murugan and Srimathi are parents to three children. During the floods, their house faced severe damages leaving them to suffer without a space to live. They were supported with an amount of Rs.50000 to rebuild their house.
Muniyammal/ Sekar: Muniyammal and Sekar belong to a tribal community and live in a poor socio-economic condition. They are residents of K.Nelvai village of Kanchipuram district. During the torrential rains and floods of December 2015, their house suffered severe damages. The family was forced to live in the outer portions of the house with no safe shelter and nowhere else to go. Based on the family’s need, they were supported with an amount of Rs.50000 to rebuild their house.
M. Dhanapal: Dhanapal resides in Athivakkam village, Madhurantakam block. Dhanapal and Anjalai have two sons and a daughter. Their thatched roof house was heavily damaged. The mud wall facing east was completely destroyed. After inspection, the family was provided with Rs.5000 to rebuild the wall and restore their daily life.
P. Madhurai Meenachi: Prabath and Meenachi reside in Periya Vilikadu Village, Cheyyur. They live in a thatched roof house along with their son, Sasikumar. During the recent floods, the south facing mud wall collapsed and the thatched roof was also damaged. In order to support the family, Kalanjiyam extended Rs.10000 to rebuild the wall and repair the roof.
