Dear Well wishers and supporters,
The following families were supported with the funds that you provided and made a big difference for rehabilitation of these communities.
B. Sumathi
Sumathi resides in Zameen Endathur village of Kanchipuram district with her two daughters. Her husband died 10 years ago, leaving her to single handedly shoulder all family responsibilities. Off late, she has not been keeping too well. She due to continued health problems, she has not been able to work on a regular basis and the family has been living a hand-to-mouth existence. During the floods, her house was flooded and two walls collapsed. She was supported to rebuild the walls.
Sagunthala and Chellan
Sagunthala and Chellan are senior citizens who reside in Kalpattu village in Kanchipuram distict. They live in a thatched roof house with their family. During the deluge, the walls to their house were severely damaged. They were supported to reconstruct the walls.
R. Selvi
Selvi and her husband, Ravi, reside in their thatched roof house at Kalpattu village. They are parents to three young children- two daughters and a son. During the recent floods, a couple of walls to their house collapsed. This left the family especially the children vulnerable and endangered. In the nights, they would live in the constant fear of the house being infested with venomous insects. The family was provided support to reconstruct the walls and return to normalcy
C. Pasiyammal
Pasiyammal, a senior citizen, resides in Periya Velikadu village of Kanchipuram district. Her family belongs to a very poor socio-economic background. Her daughter has mental retardation and is in need of regular medication and medical care. During the recent floods, walls to her house were severely damaged. Due to poverty, she did not have the means to rebuild her house and could not provide medical care to her daughter during the floods. She was therefore, supported with an amount of Rs.8000 to reconstruct the damaged walls.
Y. Sasikala
Sasikala is a resident of Kalpattu village of Cheyyur Taluk. Her family consists of 5 members and all of them are daily wage labourers. They live in a thatched roof house on their 15 x 12 feet. During the recent floods, supporting walls and the roof collapsed. They did not have the means to make the repairs due to poverty. The family was supported funds for reconstructing the walls and roof.
H. Suguna
Suguna resides with her family in Athivakkam village of Kanchipuram district. Her thatched roof house is built on a 15 x 12 feet piece of land. The walls of her house were severely damaged during the recent deluge. Considering the family’s economic condition, they were supported for rebuilding the walls.
B. Indhraganthi
Indhraganthi of Athivakkam village lives in their house built on a 21 x 12 feet plot of land. Their house was completely flooded and two of the walls collapsed during the deluge since their house is located very close to the reservoir. They faced a lot of hardships during and after the floods since they did not have the means to rebuild the collapsed walls. Hence, they were supported for the rebuilding.
Kala/ Palani
Kala and Palani are residents of Pekkaranai village of Kanchipuram district. Theirs is a thatched roof hut built on a 21 x 11 feet plot of land. During the recent floods, the walls and roof of the hut collapsed completely. The family suffered immensely without a place to stay. With the full contribution of the family and the village head, the house was to be reconstructed as a concrete house.
