Introduction
The Primary Education Project (PEP) was established PEP as a Diocesan project in 2001 registered society under the Societies Registration Act-1860. The Diocese is also registered with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and is a taxpayer organization with NPO status to work on education in Rural Sindh. Later on, as the FATA made the decision for the registration of all working organizations in Pakistan should be registered under the federal government the Diocese of Hyderabad. The Diocese of Hyderabad reached out to the relevant departments of the government of Pakistan and made its reorganization from the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) of the Government of Pakistan which is a certified organization by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP).
Situation:
The 2022 floods in heavy monsoon rains, started in late August and continued for several weeks. The floods affected more than 33 million people, the floods also claimed 1,700 lives and caused widespread damage to infrastructure and crops. People had to leave their homes and lived in emergency shelters. They have hardly any access to clean drinking water, food, and health facilities.
Relief Intervention:
Primary Education Project (PEP) with the support of many of our donors have reached many families to provide them the relief that they deserved especially the children and their families in our village schools in six districts. The PEP initiated this campaign by communicating with many donors and GlobalGiving too. The PEP has reached almost every single family and supported them with food, water, non-food items, and shelter.
PEP would like to share its report with our supporters who have taken part in the GlobalGiving campaign on “Flood Affectees in Rural Sindh”. The PEP has distributed the food packs among the families who are still recovering from the floods. This event was held on 5th April 2023 in Tando Allahyar district village Marwari Goth. They hosted this event and it was an easy destination for the families to reach and receive the food packs.
The families were grateful for receiving this aid from the many shared grants from our supporters on GlobalGiving who have donated on this platform to rebuild their lives like normal days.
