This Project is raising $35,000 ($34,665 remaining) to repair 5 broken boreholes and provide safe water to 1,500+ residents. Help Aparis CDP repair broken hand pumps and bring clean, safe drinking water to 1,500+ villagers in Kumi, Uganda.
Water Scarcity: 5 of the village's 6 old boreholes are broken, forcing children to walk 5 km to drink from stagnant ponds shared with animals. Health & Safety: Waterborne illnesses like diarrhea, typhoid, and skin infections threaten daily life. In Uganda, diarrhea kills 33 children every day. Economic Toll: Families spend scarce money on expensive charcoal to boil water or drink it raw. Girls frequently miss school to fetch water.
Local Execution: The project is run by local community members who purchase materials directly in Kumi rather than relying on outside contractors. Track Record: One borehole was already successfully repaired in July 2026, cutting hours-long walks down to 5-minute trips. Cost Impact: $15 supplies clean water to one family for a year, and $200 repairs a borehole for 300 people.
Short-Term Goal: Repair the remaining 5 boreholes to give 1,500+ people access to safe water within 500 meters. Long-Term Impact: Cut diarrhea cases by 60%, help children stay in school, allow grandmothers to save 3 hours daily, and train 5 local committees to maintain the water systems for 10 years.
