As we prepare for a summer of community events and free Summer Meals for kids throughout Philadelphia, we're reflecting on a Spring that came with opportunities to advocate for lasting food security while ensuring households across Philadelphia know about important updates to federal food programs.
On April 9th, we joined the Pennsylvania Hunger Action Coalition (PHAC) in Harrisburg to bring attention to the issue of food insecurity and underscore the importance of adequate state funding for programs that support our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. We joined anti-hunger advocates for a rally in the main rotunda before spreading out through the Capitol to meet with legislators and introduce our End Hunger Checklist.
Among many updates surrounding federal food programs, there are some changes that directly impact those we serve. When we learn of such changes to policy and benefits, we get the word out to communities across the Philadelphia Region through our website, email updates, social media, and in collaboration with partner organizations. Additionally, our Communications Team completed and launched our brand new website less than a month ago. It's now easier than ever for people to access and understand the services and resources that we offer. The new website is:
We are so grateful for your support as we work to build lasting food security across the Philadelphia region!
If you're local to Philadelphia, we hope you'll save the date for our upcoming 28th annual Race Against Hunger 5K.
