As we greet a new year, we're reflecting on our work partnering with Spanish-speaking comunities while also looking forward to expanding that focus to include additional historically marginalized communities.
Over the past year we have cultivated many meaningful relationships within Spanish-speaking communities, allowing us to bring vital food resources to those who face some of the highest barriers when accessing local and federal programs meant to build food security. In 2023 we established seven SNAP Hotline referal partnerships with trusted organizations within Spanish-speaking communities throughout Philadephia, and we have welcomed 3 of those organizations into our Victory in Partnership Program. This is largely due to the dual focus of our SNAP Outreach & Hotline Counselor, Jalexa Marmolexos, who acts as liaison to our local Spanish-speaking communities while also providing bilingual assistance on our SNAP Hotline.
Following our transformative 5-year Strategic Plan, we will now expand our outreach efforts to increase access for more historically marginalized communities.
In the coming years our team will be concentrating outreach efforts within Asian immigrant communities, among those who identify as LGBTQI, and among those living with disabilities. We know that hunger is preventable, and we are so grateful for your support in building the sustainable solutions that will create lasting food security throughout Philadelphia.
