Do You Know Someone Who Is Food Insecure? Chances Are...You Do!
The cost of food is on the rise, especially healthy food. This makes it all the more difficult for people who are food insecure to access healthy and nutritious meals. Food insecurity describes a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life.
One "bad month" can be enough to plunge a household into food insecurity. Lay-offs at work, unexpected car maintenance or an accident on the job can suddenly force a family to choose between buying food and paying bills. Working families across America face countless situations that can result in food insecurity and hunger.

The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger has been an anti-hunger leader for over two decades, building a regional movement to end hunger in southeast Pennsylvania, with the vast majority of our direct service work in Philadelphia. Our mission is to build a community where all people have the food they need to lead healthy lives. The Coalition takes a holistic approach by addressing immediate food needs, providing short term relief, and addressing long term solutions to food insecurity.
