Green Fields

Hello Donors,

The students and staff at Goodwill Preparatory School are thankful for your support of the Green Fields Project. A ½ acre garden has been fenced, tilled, planted and crops harvested. Garden produce is served as part of school lunches. These meals are very important to many of the students who come from families who struggle with food security.

The garden at Goodwill Preparatory is the ninth funded by Grow Against Poverty. Many schools have requested to be part of this program. Plans are to add another school this year and two schools yearly thereafter. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Hello Donors,

As you can see, this program’s name has been changed to “Green Fields”. Everything else has stayed the same. 

Volunteers are an important part of Grow Against Poverty’s programs. Mr. Oswata, a husband and father of two daughters, is the Volunteer Program Officer. He has a BS in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management from Moi University. Among his duties is working with the eight schools in the Green Fields program. Students have been back to school for several weeks, gardens have been planted and all await the long rains, called masika, from March-May. Garden updates will be sent as the season progresses. Thanks to Mr. Oswata for his time and effort given to this and other Grow Against Poverty programs.

The goal this year is to extend this program to two more schools. Hundreds of more students will benefit with nutritious food and agriculture education.
