Now that Covid has eased and donations to NGOs working on the Thai/Myanmar border are slowly increasing we have decided to phase out support for the orphan feeding program and concentrate on working wih Burmese HIV+ women and older refugees by continuing to give them the tools to advocate for their health and well-being through photography.
Security in Mae Sot is very tight, with frequent police checks and arrests of undocumented civilians. This has meant that photo workshop participants must be careful about who and where they photograph, and what they wish to post publicly.
The images you see may have faces blurred or masked and participants asked not to be named publicly. None of this has dampened their spirits! I am inspired by their courage and persistence.
