Over 50 children and 30 vulnerable households are going to bed hungry every night. No posho. No beans. No milk for babies. APARIS Community Development Program runs a village feeding program for 5 community centers. We provide emergency hot meals, posho, beans, milk for babies, and take-home food packages to the most starving households.
Aparis Village in Eastern Uganda is facing severe famine. Rains failed, gardens dried up. Over 300 families are affected. Mothers walk 10km to find a cup of posho. Babies cry from hunger. Elderly widows eat one meal in two days. These children are not in boarding school - they are in huts, without electricity, without running water, without food. many total orphans, elderly grandmothers, grandchildren, and many in child-headed households - have no food security.
APARIS Community Development Program is a village-based response, not a school project. We operate *5 village feeding centers* in Aparis and nearby villages: 1. Emergency Village Meals:* Daily hot meals at our centers - posho, beans, greens, silver fish, and porridge - for any orphan or vulnerable child who comes. 2. Baby Milk Program:* Milk and enriched porridge for babies and children under 3 who are severely malnourished. 3. Household Food Packages:* We deliver 100kg posho,
Immediate: No child in Aparis sleeps hungry. 500+ orphans and 300 households should receive emergency food annually. Build Community Kitchen:* Local mothers cook, local farmers supply - $25 you give stays in Kumi and buys food from Kumi farmers. Garden for Tomorrow:* planting fast-growing vegetables and training families to restart gardens after famine. prevent children from going to the streets to beg. We aim to provide 120,000 meals in the next 12 months, support 50 most vulnerable households.
