In our last report, we mentioned identifying a nook of families in need of our Community Food Kit and our desire as an organization to continue to meet people where their food needs are occuring. At the height of our program, for three semesters, we were feeding 750 families a week with this kit and in some school districts, pairing it with a 15-lb produce box.For the 2021-2022 school year, we are consistently feeding 250 families, every other week in six school districts with this kit and a 15-lb produce box. We anticipate those numbers increasing with the food inflation and now price increases at the pump. As with so many things, our lower-income households bear a disproportionate amount of the fallout from these types of economic situations. Our Liberty Missouri school district has engaged their special needs high school class as the packers and distributors of the Community Food Kit. Teachers developed a system and are teaching their students about time management, using a standard operating procedure and being a part of their larger local community, all while helping those less fortunate. It has been a great success and the clients receiving these kits and produce boxes are encouraged with the students participation.Thank you for the financial support you continue to send. Know that we use those funds to purchase fresh produce and shelf stable items to feed entire families who are struggling. Our goal is to continue this program as long as a need is demonstrated.
