Over the last year, I have updated you on our food pantry struggles.
In 2014, our food pantry provided over $15,000 worth of food and hygiene items through the first six months of the year. In calculating our numbers for 2015, we have provided 31% less food through the first six months. Some of this is due to funding, some of this is due to the lack of availability of food from our local food bank.
It would be easy to go and shop at Walmart for food but we would be limited to cheaper, unhealthier foods. Our food bank provides us with the opportunity for buying food in bulk at lower prices to feed more people.
We are happy to report that the limited monies we have for food and hygiene can be directed all toward food! We received a grant from Broadway Cares that will allow us to keep the pantry stocked with hygiene items so that your donations can be utilized 100% to increase our food output.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to raising our numbers again soon!
