First off I want to sincerely thank all of you who have donated to Francis House's food pantry project! Your support helps us provide over 600 meals each and every month!
Francis House continues to see an increase in need for food. Recently, we were made aware that due to government funding cuts for HIV services, our county is about to see a 30% decrease in food pantry funding for the remainder of this program year and the ENTIRE food pantry budget is in jeopardy of going away for fiscal year 2012. Although these cuts don't directly affect our food pantry budget, the residual effect that this will have will be overwhelming.
Already, at least 100 individuals utilize our pantry on a monthly basis. With another food pantry in the county closing, more HIV positive individuals will have to rely on Francis House to help supplement their food budget. Since the beginning of 2011, Francis House has distributed over 52,543 pounds of food. We expect that the need for food will outweigh what Francis House can provide on a weekly basis.
We continue to need your help. We continue to need the resources to feed those who rely on good nutrition to help keep healthy immune systems. Help us help those in need.
