Prolonged drought, crop failure, and poverty have pushed thousands of families in Uganda's Karamoja region into severe hunger. This project will provide emergency food, nutrition support for children and pregnant mothers, and climate-smart farming assistance to vulnerable households. Your donation will help save lives today while building stronger, more resilient communities for tomorrow.
Karamoja is experiencing one of its worst hunger crises in years. In July 2026, the Ugandan government began emergency food distribution after hunger-related deaths were reported. About 1.5 million people have been affected by prolonged drought, while health facilities are treating increasing numbers of severely malnourished children.
This project will deliver maize flour, beans, cooking oil, and nutrition supplements to the most vulnerable families. It will also support community kitchens, child nutrition screening, drought-resistant seeds, kitchen gardens, and farmer training. Combining immediate relief with long-term resilience will help families recover while reducing future dependence on emergency aid.
Beyond emergency food assistance, this project will strengthen household food security through improved farming practices, nutrition education, and climate-resilient livelihoods. Families will become better prepared for future droughts, children will enjoy improved nutrition and school attendance, and communities will be more resilient to recurring food crises.
