For many families in Karamoja, prolonged drought is more than an environmental challenge—it threatens their livelihoods, food supplies, and ability to provide for their children. When rainfall remains inadequate, crops fail, water becomes harder to find, and livestock-dependent households face growing pressure. Families may be forced to spend what little they have on food, leaving fewer resources for healthcare, education, and other essential needs.
This situation highlights why urgent humanitarian support must go hand in hand with efforts to build resilience. The Girl Child Foundation Uganda (GIFU) is calling on donors and well-wishers to help mobilize assistance for drought-affected communities in Karamoja.
Donor contributions can support efforts to improve access to food and nutrition while helping vulnerable households work toward more sustainable ways of producing and accessing food. Longer-term approaches may include drought-resilient farming practices, water conservation, and livelihood recovery.
A gift of $10 or more can contribute to a collective response. Your generosity can help families face today’s hunger while building a stronger foundation for tomorrow. Stand with GIFU and the people of Karamoja in the fight against hunger and deepening rural poverty.
