Dear Supporters,
We are sharing our first progress update for Project #78949 – Education and Nutrition Support for 200 Vulnerable Children in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
Current Status: $0 raised of $5,000 goal – We have not yet received our first donor. Our Appeal "Need First Donors – 2 Projects Live, $0 Ever" was approved Aug 27 (Communication #17755) and distributed to GlobalGiving donor network.
Progress without funds in last 7 days:
1. International Volunteer: On Aug 27, we onboarded our first US-based volunteer, Sirin, as Fundraising Champion for BOTH Project 78949 and Project 78950 (100 Women). Sirin committed 4-8 hours per week for grant research and US promotion. Her confirmation: "Yes both tasks work for me. I can dedicate minimum 4 hours per week and at most 8."
For 78949 specifically, Sirin will search for child nutrition and education grants in the US and share goto.gg/78949 to help us find first donors.
2. Community Entry: We were welcomed in Ezza land – Ezza news updates and Ezza Ezekuna Sons & Daughters Forum. 100% of our 200 children beneficiaries are verified indigenes from Ezza North, Ezza South, Izzi, and Abakaliki LGAs. Community leaders available for verification and field visits.
3. Learning Best Practice: We studied First Lady Arya Ali's Adopt-an-Orphanage Initiative in Guyana (192 children, 9 homes, Amazonia Mall partnership) – A model for joy, education, and private-sector partnership that we hope to replicate in Abakaliki.
Next Steps:
- Week 1: Sirin to identify 5 US grants for child nutrition/education
- Community verification of 200 children in 4 LGAs
- Outreach for first donors to move from $0 to first donations
We remain open to field visits and 100% local verification.
Thank you for following our journey from $0 to first donors.
Warm regards,
Kosarachi Nwafor
