Deepak (name changed) was found with his mother begging at the railway premises in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Our support staff of railway CHILDLINE (helpline for children) found them and brought them over as begging is bannned at railway stations using children. We found that Deepak could not walk as he was malnutritioned. His mother was mentally ill. We provided the child with shelter and the mother was shifted to women's shelter for medical care.
We also took Deepak to the hospital and found that he was with tuberculosis. After due treatment and necessary nutrition now he is able stand up, walk and talk.
Children with mentally ill mothers are often a category of chidlren who require lots of attention and it is often a tediuous task to take care of the chidlren as it is extremely difficult to separate the mother and chidlren. In most of such cases the father of the family leaves them and the woman has to stick to the streets to fend for their chidlren and chidlren themselves are in danger of mental health issues due to the problem of the mother.
Thank You for your share in feeding our chidlren!
