The AYA Farm is currently in its second growing season of the year. The first harvest was lower than usual due to low rainfall, but we were still able to deliver corn and beans to 10 schools and orphanages. The program directors were excited to receive proceeds from our first harvest in March. With the high costs of corn, they were extremely grateful to receive grants of corn and beans to supplement their feeding programs and thus, free up some of their income to be used on other expenses.
The second crop of corn is looking better as rains have been more steady. We have also been aided by our recent purchase of a tractor from generous AYA supporters. This has greatly helped in our efficiency during the planting season.
We just received our first check from Global Giving and are so appreciative of all of our wonderful supporters! After we harvest the second season, will determine the most effective and cost-efficient use of your generous donations for the AYA farm productivity and expansion. We will be sure to keep you updated.
