On the 16th of July, 2020, the NDES FOUNDATION set out to make this gesture of feeding one hundred (100) Internally Displaced Persons(IDP) living in a small town, Muea in the South West Region of Cameroon. With the ongoing socio-political crisis in the English-Speaking North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, many families have been displaced from their original settlements and are seeking refuge in other towns where life is more bearable. Many of them suffer lack of basic commodities such as food, as many do not have a source of income in their host communities. Our goal was to provide for them some basic food items. We purchased 10 bags of rice weighing 50kg each, 10 bags of table salt,100 packets of bouillon cubes and 100 Ndes Foundation designed food bags which carried the food shared to the 100 IDP's families. Rice is a staple food for many families and the local ingredients provided are some of the basics used in preparation. The NDES Foundation team was able to galvanise these families and distribute these packages to them. However, the team faced the insecurity challenge plaguing the area, as a day prior to the event there was a gun battle in that locality, causing tensions there. However, the distribution went on smoothly and the IDPs expressed their gratitude to the Foundation for the gifts, acknowledging this was not the first time they are receiving gifts from the NDES Foundation. Being the weekend marking our Foundation's 1st Anniversary, funding for the event was solely covered by the NDES Foundation.
