Last October Fridays 14th, 21st, 28th, and Thursday 3rd of November, Pedro Clisante street in Sosua was be warming up for the DRJF 2016. Each night we got to enjoy the artistic presentations that made Sosua blossom of music and art.
In the goal of promoting and developing this touristic area through cultural aspects, FEDUJAZZ had organized weekly shows, which adhere to the objectives set out by the board of the festival: to promote gender equality and the eradication of violence against women.
We were looking to make emphasis on our Sosua events, Families enjoyed live music put on by ensemble made up of Fedujazz students and teachers, and also enjoyed live statues created by students, who had previously taken theatre classes to learn to control their breath and their posture for long periods of time.
The children were able to walk freely, enjoy the craft stands, musicians, and exhibitions. The tourists expressed their joy and became more interested in the foundation and the social work that is being developed, as well as the owners of the businesses, which lent great support to the event.
These activities were very important since the children could express their selves in a creative format, and in a different medium. It has also helped them to trust themselves more, become more confident, and see the importance of music and the impact is has in their lives.
The hope of FEDUJAZZ is to create more equality in our society thoough alternative activities oriented towards art, to create and educational forum committed to the bettterment of society. We aspire to an Education with social conscience.
