Rainy season has started and heavy rains yesterday inundated the pig enclosure at the Farm Animal Sanctuary in Riau, Indonesia. The Sanctuary is located in a very remote area of Sumatra, Indonesia. It is difficult to get to and the dirt road into the Sanctuary is completely full of potholes. The pig area is now almost totally underwater as the roofing made of canvass and plastic did not hold during heavy downpours on Friday. The couple, S Loong and Sing Hui, have no pump or electricity at the Sanctuary. We at Jakata Animal Aid Network (JAAN) are trying to raise enough funds to build fencing so that the pigs can have a large dry area and to get electricity to the farm, amongst many other needs. JAAN team will administer and manage all the donations received through Global Giving.
This vegan couple care for 43 pigs, 42 dogs, numerous chicken, duck geese, turtles and rabbits. They have named their place My Home My Animals Haven. They work alone as no local area people want to help them as local area people believe that pigs and dogs are to be eaten, not pets. You can view a short movie about the Sanctuary on Jakarta Animal Aid Network Instagram and Facebook. A full report can be found on Jakarta Animal Aid Network website or email info@jakartaanimalaid.com for more information. This is the only farm animal sanctuary that we know of in Indonesia! We are hoping that the Vegan communities around the world will want to help this couple to make their Sanctuary a wonderful place for the animals to live and for eco-tourists and volunteers to come and work. The couple want to show the strong bond between humans and animals and that animals are sentient beings who deserve happy lives.
Please spread the word to you family and friends about this special cause. We really appreciate any and all support for SLoong and Sing Hui ( we call them Koko and Cici).
Best regards
