Please welcome Laurel White. She is a new project leader here at GlobalGiving and over the past few weeks we have had the opportunity to get to know her and the great work she does for her organization WINGS.

It’s not about “right” and “wrong”
We are proud to introduce WINGS Development Officer Laurel White who works in the organization’s Antigua, Guatemala office. “I’m proud to come to work every day for an organization that is passionate about improving lives in a way that is culturally respectful and sensitive,” says Laurel. “The goal of our organization is to increase knowledge and provide options for people, rather than dictate what is a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ choice. At the end of the day, we hope to empower people to plan their families in the way that is best for them.” WINGS provides information, financial resources, and access to reproductive health services for low-income, rural, and indigenous Guatemalans. These services include reproductive health education, cervical cancer detection and treatment, and peer education for adolescents. Funds raised through GlobalGiving have been used to subsidize various family planning methods (including birth control pills, Jadelle implants, tubal ligations, and vasectomies) for men and women who could not otherwise afford the cost.
Increased giving would allow WINGS to expand its geographical coverage to meet the incredible unmet need for family planning and reproductive health services in Guatemala.
