We’re proving that busy people can achieve wonders. Along with managing small businesses or working full-time, we manage to achieve amazing things. April was spent planning activities to support our partners in Timor-Leste and prepare for events in Australia to spread the word about our work with Fair Trade.
In May, two of our wonderful volunteers travelled to Timor-Leste and delivered a weeklong workshop for LO’UD women. The workshop focused on enhancing the women’s capacity to meet production deadlines both now and into the future. Catch the details in the attached Travel Diary.
They also gathered quality HD footage, which came together as a three-minute promotional video for Fair Futures. You’ll soon be able to view some special bonus footage featuring LO’UD women’s perspectives and aspirations for the future. We’ll be sure to let you know when the film on our GG project webpage… but you can see a sneak preview on ETWA’s website until the end of July - see www.etwa.org.au!
The events in Australia in May and June focussed on our work with plant-dyed textiles and the research ETWA members did to establish Fair Trade pricing frameworks for LO’UD. These events were great opportunities to increase our networks and offer LO’UD’s beautiful textiles to the public – sales and interest were both high, which inspires our volunteers to trek out on those cold Melbourne nights!
We’re looking forward to warmer weather and especially reaching our goal of creating fairer futures for women and girls in Timor-Leste. And of course, a big thankyou for your continued support!
