Thank YOU for supporting STEM Advantage Scholars! Your support makes all the difference in the world.
Did you know...
Our holistic program includes paid internships, 1-to-1 mentors, scholarships, professional and career development, and community. Thanks to our partners, we provide relevant, timely, and impactful professional and career development to Scholars, while building community. Sharing a few examples and photos from recent workshops.
Deloitte held a "The Future is Now: Enhance Your Career Potential" workshop for Scholars featuring sessions on Building Your Brand, Business Chemistry, and a panel comprised of early career Deloitte professionals.
During Women's History Month, we held a panel & networking event at Reddit's LA Office. Our female Scholars and alumnae enjoyed a wonderful evening meeting each other and networking with mentors and other female professionals to build their community. We had an amazing panel featuring female executives at The Aerospace Corporation, Farmers Insurance, and Lionsgate.
During National Volunteer Week in April we celebrated 200+ STEM professionals, who volunteer their time to be phenomenal mentors providing a role model, support, guidance, and coaching to STEM Advantage Scholars. We appreciate their engagement listening to and discussing their mentee's interests and questions, sharing experiences and advice, and helping scholars gain confidence for interviews, internships and jobs. Plus, we appreciate the many professionals who lead our workshops, participate on career panels, and serve on our Board of Directors and Advisory Board.
We have participated in California State University, Dominguez Hills' ToroHack, student-led cybersecurity conference for the past seven years. In April, we facilitated two stellar panels featuring industry leaders and alumni, who shared their knowledge, experiences, and advice with students interested in cybersecurity careers. A Cybersecurity Careers panel featured STEM Advantage alumni and mentors at Accenture, NBCUniversal, Qualcomm, and T-Mobile. A Women in STEM panel featured Chief Information Officers (CIOs) at The Aerospace Corporation, Chapman University, Discover Claims, and Endeavor.
