STEM Advantage provides financial, professional, and personal support to students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) enrolled full-time at five (5) California State University Campuses. Since 2012, we have provided over $750,000 in scholarship funds to women and under-represented students enrolled in our 360-degree program. In addition, through our expanded programming efforts, STEM students at each of our partner campuses take part in our professional development workshops, career panels, netowrking events, and other activities promoting student engagement and student success. Through our participation with Global Giving, our end-of-the-year giving campaign received almost $12,000 in donations, all contributing to support our scholars through scholarship, mentorship and internsthip. We thank you for your support!
So now...a little bit about our students...the reason we do what we do!
In Fall of 2018, we added California State Polytechnic University, Pomona to our partnership (that also includes California State University, Dominguez Hills; California State University, Long Beach; California State University, Los Angeles; California State University, Northridge) and accepted, after applications and interviews, a total of 125 eager young students! 46% of our newest cohort of STEM Advantage Scholars are women, 72% are First Generation College Students (the first in their family to attend college), 62% are Pell Grant recipients, and over 1/4 have an overall GPA over 3.5. Demographically, our most recent group of Scholars are 48% LatinX, 25% Asian/Pacific Islander, 11% Multi-racial, 9% White, and 7% African American. Donations such as yours make a difference in the lives of our scholars...These are our Faces of STEM.®
