Eyeglasses for Struggling Kentucky Families

New Eyes continues to make deep impacts on the lives of financially struggling Kentuckians.Since our last report in April, New Eyes has provided 149 additional Kentucky residents with the simple, yet critical, tool of eyeglasses.

New Eyes worked directly with 12 social service agencies in Kentucky to provide their clients with new eyeglasses. Since April, 6 children, 86 women and 57 men in Kentucky were helped (children receive two pair - one for home and one for school!). Seventy-nine percent of families were working poor; the remaining 21% were adults 65 and older, all enrolled in traditional Medicare which does not pay for eyeglasses for seniors. With the average price of eyeglasses at over $250, these individuals would not have been able to obtain new glasses without New Eyes' assistance.

The total number of low-income Kentuckians helped through GlobalGiving donations since our Kentucky campaign began several years ago has now reached over 1,000 - a remarkable feat we could not have done without your critical support. The eyeglasses and clear vision that you've given to so many in need in Kentucky have brought joy and security to everyday life and possibilities for their futures.Your  transformative gift of glasses have been making deep long-lasting impacts.
